Okonomiyaki-Style Mizuna Salad This is a salad variation of my mizuna toast. I served this to my husband and son who don't like store bought dressing, and they loved it! Ever since, this is a standard salad when I don't have much time. You can cook Okonomiyaki-Style Mizuna Salad using 5 ingredients and 4 steps. Here is how you achieve it.
Ingredients of Okonomiyaki-Style Mizuna Salad
- You need 1/2 of packet Mizuna leaves.
- It's 1/2 small of Tomatoes (optional).
- Prepare 2 of to 3 tablespoons Tempura crumbs.
- It's 1 of Okonomiyaki sauce.
- It's 1 of Mayonnaise.
The key is the crumbly texture of the tempura crumbs! For example, a great substitute for mizuna is arugula (or rocket). The amounts needed for the substitution are the same, just to make things easy for you. You can make this salad completely vegetarian if you like, but I decided to add some tinned tuna for protein.
Okonomiyaki-Style Mizuna Salad step by step

I wanted to use grilled Age but I didn't have any (FYI. The traditional Osaka-style okonomiyaki includes shredded cabbage, pork belly, and seafood. The pancake is then topped with bonito flakes, okonomiyaki sauce (a brown, tangy sauce), mayonnaise, and scallions. Mizuno is not a big restaurant, and thus it can't seat many at once. Thankfully, the lines moves pretty quickly.
